Promotional Artwork Commission for Jazz Artist Plumm

My friend and jazz artist Plumm asked me to do her a promotional image that she can use throughout modes of social media as promotion for her upcoming gig at the Islington in London. She only asked in terms of design for me to encapsulate her style as an artist and asked for 'doodles'.

For a better understanding of her style of worldly influenced music here is some uploads of her work:

I therefore pretty much had free reign which was exciting and particularly stimulating as I've been to many of her gigs and really understand her unique style in terms of music and personality so this mini project was a pleasure. For the designs above I chose to use a warmer colour pallet and have put in a transparent layer of a liquid oil projection, as she has one of these in her shed/out- house in which she practices which like this image is heavily decorated. I feel using this image therefore gives a sense of a more intimate, personal approach which the gig at the Islington will be like.

I gave her a choice of all these designs, which I used a graphic pen for the illustrations which was a new experience for me. I found it difficult initially to get the hang of it but within 20 minutes or less i was loving it. Progress is highlighted especially with this image below as I managed to utilise the pressure to add shading.
